Parent & Player Update
4/13/2008 Date: Sunday, April 12, 2008 - 10:30AM
First, I would like to thank all parents and players for being patient during the first two weeks as we have attempted to get organized. Once again the league has been filled at the Novice, Atom and Peewee division with a waiting list (the phone never stops ringing). We may try to get more ice-time next year and add 2 more teams at Novice. Bantam is 95% full and we are seeking one more goalie and about 4 other players. So thanks to everyone.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all the parents that have stepped up to coach these young players. Without you they do not get to have the FUN they are having. And to the parents that take on the time clock job another HUGE THANK YOU. Without you we cannot operate!!!!!!
Here are some things to know on how we operate the league.
1. The on-ice officials are also our convenors, so if you have any questions or concerns feel free to talk with them. Bev Suitor or Dave Easter try to be at the rink often, but we can not be there all the time.
2. If you have questios or concerns that you would like to put in writing feel free to e-mail us; deaster@cogeco.ca. Please do not call our house unless it is very important. It is impossible for us to call everyone back on all requests and e-mailing makes life easier for everyone.
3. The game time slots are 35 minute slots. As soon as the game before you is finished the clock must be set for 35 minutes and the clock begins running.
4. I would suggest to the coaches to get your guys to stretch before they hit the ice and when both teams get on the ice, then LETS PLAY!
5. All players will get to keep their jersey at the end of the season. We have asked the coaches not to give them to the players yet, until we finalize the teams.
6. There may be some adjustments to the teams (check this week for updated rosters on this site). The probelm with making any changes is if we base it only on scores we are not sure if some teams have all their players some days. It only takes one good player or one good goalie to skew the results. At the end of the day we want ALL players to have FUN. We do not want any emphasis on scoring and scores, but on FUN and sportsmanship.
7. There will not be any shoot-outs at the end of the game unless it could affect the final score -- lets face it,the players want the opportunity to do the fun stuff when they can and shoot-outs are fun for everyone (well maybe not the goalie that gets scored on).
8. If you have not paid in full yet, please make this happen ASAP. I cannot allow any unpaid player on the ice next week. You can drop your payment off at 16 Argyle Crescent (Chatham) or 132 Queen street (Easter & Associates -- just drop the money off, they do not know anything about the league, so don't ask, cause they will not know).
When you drop your payment off in a sealed envelope please insure that the players name is enclosed and the division and team number (it is so much easier to find him this way).
Please have FUN and Enjoy the game.
We will have some the past, current and future Jr Maroons out soon to meet the players and skate on the ice with them during the games. Yes they will sign autographs and have their picture taken with your son or daughter (they love this more than the players do).
ACTION Pictures!!!!
If any parents would like to take pictures of the action shots, on the bench shots, etc, feel free and e-mail them to us (deaster@cogeco.ca) and we can upload them onto our website for everyone to enjoy.
There must be a few amateur photgrpahers that would love to get some action photos up on our site. Get some of our great volunteer coaches in action as well......... Thanks
Yours in Hockey
Dave Easter
